December 2001-July 2003

The first privately-owned alumina enterprise in China was successfully established, thereby breaking the monopoly held by state-owned enterprises.

By the close of 2001, China's inaugural private alumina venture, the Nanchuan Alumina Refinery, was launched, swiftly escalating its annual output from 50,000 tons to 800,000 tons within a brief timeframe. The Nanchuan Refinery has relentlessly innovated, introducing over 20 distinct alumina production processes, thereby breaking the monopoly held by state-owned enterprises in alumina products and spearheading groundbreaking advancements in China's alumina industry. Widely acclaimed within the industry, it is hailed as both China's alumina production technology museum and the “Huangpu Military Academy” for nurturing alumina professionals.

December 2006

Bosai Group successfully acquired Guyana Omai Bauxite Mining Inc. with USD 60 million, which stands as the largest overseas investment ever made in Chongqing.

By the close of 2006, Bosai Group outstripped over 20 renowned global mining conglomerates, including ALCOA and RUSAL, by investing a substantial USD 60 million to acquire Guyana Omai Bauxite Mining Inc. located in Guyana,South America. This strategic move secured Bosai Group an impressive hoard of approximately 200 million tons of high-alumina, low-silica bauxite resources, globally renowned for their superior quality. Consequently, Bosai Group swiftly ascended to hold a commanding 40% market share in calcined bauxite within the international arena. This remarkable achievement has since endowed Chinese enterprises with a voice and pricing influence within the global industry.

May 2008-December 2008

Successful acquisition and expansion of Aba Aluminum Smelter, coupled with diligent efforts towards its reconstruction in the aftermath of Wenchuan earthquake.

In September 2006, Bosai Group acquired Aba Aluminum Smelter, embarking on a comprehensive technical renovation and capacity expansion program. Bosai anticipated hosting a grand commissioning ceremony on May 13, 2008, to mark this milestone achievement. However, fate intervened on May 12, 2008, when the devastating Wenchuan earthquake struck, inflicting severe damage on Aba Smelter. Tragically, 25 lives were lost, and dozens more sustained critical injuries. The earthquake caused the collapse of office buildings and factories, resulting in a direct economic loss of CNY 300 million. In the aftermath of this disaster, the outpouring of support from Party and State Leaders, local governments at all levels, and compassionate individuals from diverse backgrounds was overwhelming. They came together to express their condolences and offer assistance during the relief and reconstruction period. Remarkably, seven months later, production at Aba Smelter was fully resumed.

From 2006 to 2016

Triumphant settlement in the “Case of Conspiracy to Control Bauxite Export Prices”, resolving the lawsuit initiated by the U.S. (2006-2016)

In the face of the United States' alleged “conspiracy to control bauxite export prices” against China's refractory grade bauxite exporters, Bosai Group made its argument on grounds of reason. After a decade of arduous effort and expenditure of millions of dollars, Bosai triumphantly achieved reconciliation on January 25, 2016, marking a historic milestone for China's refractory material industry in its pursuit of Going Global.

From 2008 to 2012

In response to the post-2008 financial crisis and market downturn, Bosai implemented a strategy of "a strategy of downsizing by embracing large-scale empowerment to increase corporate competitveness.", embracing large-scale empowerment measures.

In the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis and its subsequent economic downturn, Bosai Group's over 6,000 employees persevered amidst adversity, remaining steadfast with the Group and triumphing over challenging times through rational and efficient internal reforms. Commencing in 2012, Bosai has undergone continuous optimization and restructuring, successfully trimming the number of subsidiaries from over 20 to 10, thereby facilitating its enhanced development.

Reaching a sales revenue milestone of over CNY 10 billion, Bosai emerged as a member of the CNY 10 billion Club in Chongqing (December 2011)

Bosai Group celebrated the monumental occasion of reaching the “CNY 10 Billion Milestone” with a grand ceremony. Among the distinguished guests attending the event were Samuel Hinds, the then Prime Minister of Guyana, and Huang Qifan, the then Mayor of Chongqing. Together, they acknowledged and celebrated Bosai Group's remarkable achievement of surpassing CNY 10 billion in sales revenue for the very first time. This accomplishment marked Bosai Group as the first private enterprise in a district/county outside the main urban area of Chongqing to attain the prestigious “CNY 10 Billion Revenue” milestone during that period.

March 30th,2019-April 30th,2019

Bosai Group acquired Manganese Mine in the Matthews Range, Guyana; When employees suffering from an unknown virus during construction, it chartered a flight for transnational life rescue.

By the end of 2016, Bosai Group successfully acquired the Manganese Mines located in the Matthews Range, which boasts a verified manganese reserve of 30 million tons. Subsequently, in 2019, the construction process officially commenced. In late March, during construction, an unforeseen crisis arose as over 20 employees on site contracted an unidentified virus (later identified as Histoplasma capsulatum), necessitating prompt medical attention. In quick response, Bosai Group swiftly established an emergency response team, promptly organized on-line consultations with domestic medical experts, expeditiously procured essential medications and medical protective gear from China, and chartered the sole and specialized medical evacuation aircraft available in China at that time. Through concerted efforts, Bosai successfully executed a transnational life-saving mission.

Bosai Group successfully implemented the capacity expansion project for its core alumina business, embarking on a fresh chapter characterized by high-quality and sustained growth.

Bosai Group has steadfastly pursued its aspiration to emerge as a premier enterprise within the alumina and downstream aluminum industry. Over the past two decades, it has diligently scouted locations across numerous provinces within China, encompassing Guangxi, Xinjiang, Liaoning, Shandong, and even extending its reach to foreign shores like Indonesia. Ultimately, it has found its home in Wanzhou District, Chongqing, where Bosai established Chongqing Jiulong Wanbo New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. Remarkably, within just a year and a half, the company constructed the world's largest standalone alumina plant, a testament to its prowess and efficiency. Its achievements are nothing short of groundbreaking, including becoming the first alumina enterprise globally to attain self-sufficiency in electricity generation and seamlessly integrating its surplus electricity into the grid. Furthermore, Wanbo Refinery stands as the industry's leading enterprise in terms of energy consumption and emission reduction indicators, setting a benchmark for sustainability. Today, Bosai Group ranks among the most renowned enterprises in China's alumina industry, a testament to its unwavering commitment and relentless pursuit of excellence.
